En una serie de tweets, Johnathan Nightingale, el ex director general y vicepresidente de la unidad de Firefox en Mozilla, acusa a Google de sabotear el navegador para atraer a los usuarios a Chrome. Nightingale trabajó en Firefox durante ocho años y dice que desde el lanzamiento de Chrome, hubo un número inusual de incidentes con pequeños errores en los sitios web de Google.
Nightingale dice que cada vez que Google dice «oops, eso fue un accidente» y que lo arreglarían en el próximo intento en dos semanas. Pero los oops sucedieron una y otra vez, docenas o quizás cientos de ellos:
All of this is stuff you’re allowed to do to compete, of course. But we were still a search partner, so we’d say “hey what gives?”
And every time, they’d say, “oops. That was accidental. We’ll fix it in the next push in 2 weeks.”

I think they were running out the clock. We lost users during every oops. And we spent effort and frustration every clock tick on that instead of improving our product. We got outfoxed for a while and by the time we started calling it what it was, a lot of damage had been done.

Esta no es la primera vez que un desarrollador de Firefox se queja de sabotaje de Google. Sin embargo, Nightingale no guarda rencor contra Google, y señala que la caída de Firefox fue causada por el propio hacer de Mozilla.
